Thing 3 & 4: Digital Footprint and Digital Security

What is a digital footprint? It’s the data you leave behind when you go online. It’s what you’ve said, what others have said about you, where you’ve been, images you’re tagged in, personal information, social media profiles, and much more.

Thing 3 & 4: Digital Footprint and Digital Security

Thing 5 & 6: Diversity and Accessibility

Diversity and representation is just as important in our online and digital tools as it is in the office and classroom.

Thing 7 & 8 : Twitter and Facebook

For these Things we will be using three strands, one for Beginners, one for Intermediates, and one if you do not wish to use Facebook or Twitter at all.

Thing 7 & 8 : Twitter and Facebook

Thing 9 & 10: Google Hangouts, Collaborate Ultra and Wikimedia

Choose whichever tool you would prefer to explore (or both if you wish!), and follow the guidance below.

Thing 11 & 12: Copyright, OERs and Creative Commons

Thing 13 & 14 : Video and Audio

Thing 15 & 16: Digital Curation

Digital curation is something we are all doing more and more, gathering our own notes and resources, and curating those found from other sources.

Thing 17 & 18 : Geolocation Tools, Augmented/Virtual Reality

Geolocation is the process of identifying the location of a device by means of information processed via the Internet. Augmented reality (AR) is a live view of a real-world environment which is overlaid with computer generated virtual imagery. Let try these out and have some fun.

Thing 19 & 20 : Altmetrics, Professional Social Networks

Altmetrics are a recent addition towards attempts to measure the impact of scholarly and scientific published papers. A professional social network service is a social media platform that is focused solely on interactions and relationships of a professional nature.

Thing 21: Online Games and Learning Tools

23 Things for Digital Knowledge is itself a fun online learning tool and this week we’re spending some time looking into the variety of game based learning tools that are being developed and made available online.
