This second part of learning about digital curation was a bit more difficult for me, primarily because I have a Chromebook. Therefore, I had to make a Windows account and fiddle about with the office download before I could start using OneNote. After creating sections based on the courses I am taking this year and … Continue reading Thing 16 – Digital Curation (OneNote) →

Thing 15 – Digital Curation (Tumblr)
Hello! Thing 15 has been an enjoyable part of the programme to undergo because I feel I actually have some previous knowledge (for once!). For the very few that have read my blog post on Thing 3 – Digital Footprint, I mentioned how I spent the majority of my time when I was 15 being … Continue reading Thing 15 – Digital Curation (Tumblr) →
Thing 12 – OER’s
I have very limited knowledge of Open Educational Resources, although a majority of my course readings come from online sources. The access I have to these course readings are always through sites that require institutional membership (i.e the university), such as jstor, DAWSONERA, discovered, or EBSCOhost. I came across more difficulties while using Open.ed because … Continue reading Thing 12 – OER’s →
Thing 11 – Copyright
I decided to skip a few “Things” because I wanted to cover the compulsory parts of the programme for my Edinburgh Award in Digital Content Creation first. However, I’m really hoping I can complete all 23Things before the semester is over. I decided to look for photos linking to one of my courses this semester, … Continue reading Thing 11 – Copyright →
Thing Six – Accessibility
I found undergoing this section of the programme to be a very eye-opening experience because apart from being slightly long-sighted, I am physically a very able-bodied person. Upon reading the case studies on w3, I was actually surprised about how many improvements have been made to promoting accessibility on different digital platforms; I was particularly surprised … Continue reading Thing Six – Accessibility →
Thing 5 Diversity
I definitely think I found Thing 5 to be the most fun and interesting part of this programme so far! I enjoyed making my mini Eden on Bitmoji, but I also had a lot of fun creating different friends who are POC or a member of the LGBT+ community, to see if they could … Continue reading Thing 5 Diversity →
Thing 4 – Digital Security
Looking into my digital security for Thing Four has helped me to feel like I have a bit more privacy. When looking through the permissions on the different apps on my phone, I didn’t find much that I was concerned about. The only instance would be that my personal banking app had permission to access … Continue reading Thing 4 – Digital Security →
Digital footprint (Thing 3)
Googling myself to check my digital experience was an extremely eye-opening event. When I was in Highschool I used a lot of digital platforms to add content to; I had a facebook, twitter, instagram, tumblr and devient art account. A majority of these accounts have been inactive for years. Since I started university three years … Continue reading Digital footprint (Thing 3) →
Eden’s first blog post
Hello, my name is Eden and I am a Social Anthropology student at the University of Edinburgh. I will be using this blog as a way to complete the 23things programme created by the university to hopefully gain a high level of digital literacy and confidence when using online digital tools. I hope to be able to use these skills to help me complete the Edinburgh Award for Digital Content creation. I am also a proofreader and writer for Re;think: an online ethnographic journal.
